Questions
- What do I get on the free plan?
- Story generation at levels A0 (our starter tier for absolute beginners), A1 and A2, with audio narration. For your first month you also get tap-to-translate and written answer checks; after that they lapse and reading with audio stays free. It is enough to build a real daily reading habit, and no credit card is required.
- What's the difference between Basic, Pro, and Family?
- Mostly volume. All three include every level (A0 to C1), tap-to-translate, and unlimited printable book PDFs; Basic includes 120 story credits a month and 30 pages/mo to translate letters or menus, Pro 400 credits and 60 pages, Family 700 credits and 100 pages. A story a day fits comfortably in Basic.
- How is this different from a free app like Duolingo?
- Free vocabulary apps drill isolated words and phrases forever. You're paying here for something they don't have at any price: full stories written fresh to your exact level, on subjects you actually chose, with a book you can print at the end of it. More on this on the Duolingo alternative page.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes. Plans renew until you cancel, and you can cancel any time from your Account page; you keep access to the end of the period you paid for. Yearly and monthly both work this way. If you cancel a year early and have not used most of it, see our refund terms.
- How do story credits work?
- One monthly allowance covers every AI story action. Generating a story, a photo memory story, a voice memo transcription, or a series chapter uses 1 credit; a Reading Ladder level uses 2. Bring-Your-Own-Text import and Book Studio enhance use 8 credits each because they run much bigger AI jobs. Translating a scanned letter or menu uses a separate small page allowance, and pronunciation coaching has its own minutes. Neither touches story credits. And if you run out, you're never locked out: paid plans drop to 2 free stories a day, at any level, until your credits renew.
- Can my family each have their own login?
- Yes, on the Family plan, through Family Circles. The owner invites up to 4 more people by email or link; everyone gets their own account and their own sign-in, all drawing from one pooled monthly credit balance. Any member can share a story to the family library, and the owner can assign a shared story to a specific reader. Manage it from your account page once you're subscribed to Family.
