When they are small it is easy to speak Greek with your kids. Then school starts, new friends arrive, and Greek slides down the list. I built this so my daughter could pick it back up in her own time, at her own level. Whatever slowed your Greek down, that is the part this fixes.

ΤΟ ΧΑΣΜΑ
You grew up with Greek in your ears: kitchen conversations, phone calls with yiayia, a table full of relatives talking over each other. Maybe you manage small talk. Maybe you order food without thinking about it. Maybe you get through a simple book, or a newspaper article. Wherever you stopped, the next step up is where it breaks. For one person that is a letter from Θεσσαλονίκη. For another it is a novel.
Native newspapers and novels assume a lifetime of reading you never got to do. Apps built for tourists teach you to find a bathroom, not read a book. And the graded reader that would actually meet you at your level, on subjects you care about? It was never printed, because your level is yours alone.
So we built a way to write it for you, on demand, at every level from A0 to C1.
ΔΕΣ ΤΟ ΙΔΙΟΣ
Every story is written to a measurable level, not a vibe. Here's the same kind of everyday scene told twice: once at A1, once at B1, so you can see the gap for yourself.

Όταν ήμουν παιδί, περνούσαμε τα καλοκαίρια στο νησί. Θυμάμαι ακόμα τη μυρωδιά της θάλασσας και τις φωνές των ψαράδων το πρωί.
When I was a child, we spent the summers on the island. I still remember the smell of the sea and the voices of the fishermen in the morning.

Listen with read-aloud audio to anchor pronunciation. Tap any word for an instant translation, no dictionary tab, no losing your place.
Keep favourites in your library, stretch a story across every level with the Reading Ladder, and compile the best into a printable book PDF.
ΤΑ ΕΡΓΑΛΕΙΑ

Paste real Greek, English, or Greeklish family messages and get back cleaned Greek, an English translation, a glossary, and comprehension questions, at your level.
Compile your favourite stories into a real, book-sized reader you can print or save. The graded reader that doesn't exist in any bookshop.
ΓΙΑ ΠΟΙΟΝ
The parent raising bilingual kids
You want your children reading Greek, not just repeating phrases. Generate stories about their actual life (their dog, their yiayia's village) so reading Greek feels like their own story.
The heritage speaker
You can talk your way through Greece, but a menu or a text from a cousin stops you cold. You don't need beginner drills; you need reading practice that finally catches up to your ear.
The returning learner
You studied Greek once and stopped, or you're rebuilding a connection to family roots. You need real reading at the level you already have, on subjects you actually chose.

Η ΜΕΘΟΔΟΣ
Language researcher Stephen Krashen calls it comprehensible input: you acquire a language fastest from material you already understand about 90% of, so context teaches you the remaining 10%. Native content is usually too hard, and textbooks are too thin. Every Ellinica level is checked against measurable rules for sentence length, tense range, and vocabulary, not just an instruction to "write at level X." That's what makes A1 actually A1, and C1 actually C1.
We're upfront about how it works. Every story is generated by AI under a strict, level-specific brief rather than left to improvise, and you can see exactly what that brief is for your level in the reading level guides. For grounded topics like Greek mythology, Bible stories and classical philosophy, nothing gets invented: each retelling is anchored to one real, named source (Apollodorus for a myth, the Gospels for a Bible story, the philosopher's own text for a philosophy passage), so the names, events and ideas stay true and only the Greek gets simpler or harder to match you. Your name, interests and family details get woven in when you ask, which is what makes an endless supply of stories feel written for you rather than at you.
Η ΙΣΤΟΡΙΑ ΠΙΣΩ ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΕΦΑΡΜΟΓΗ
I built Ellinica for my daughter first. I wanted her to grow up not just hearing Greek at home, but able to open a book and actually read it herself: a book leveled exactly right for her, about things she cares about, in real modern Greek. That book didn't exist to buy, so I built a way to write it.
Then I realized the gap was never just hers. It belongs to every friend who grew up hearing Greek the same way, and to the wider Greek diaspora: millions of people with Greek in their ears and no bridge to Greek on the page. Ellinica is that bridge, built one family at a time, starting with mine.

ΣΥΧΝΕΣ ΕΡΩΤΗΣΕΙΣ
That is the Greek this was built for. Ellinica never corrects how you or your family speak. Paste a message exactly as it was sent, Greeklish and all, and you get it back in Greek script with a translation and a glossary. Your dialect is not a mistake to be fixed. It is the reason you can already hear the language.
Spend a few days on the alphabet first; Greek is highly phonetic, so once you can sound out the 24 letters you can start reading right away. Our free Greek alphabet guide covers all 24 letters with words and pictures.
Flashcard and streak-based apps drill isolated words and phrases. Ellinica gives you connected, real reading practice: full stories with grammar in context, at a level built for you, in subjects you actually chose.
Yes, and we'd rather say so plainly than let you wonder. Every story is written by AI, but under a strict, level-specific brief (sentence length, tense range, and vocabulary are all measurable rules, not vibes) so it actually matches your level. Grounded topics like Greek mythology, Bible stories, and philosophy are retold from one real, named source, never invented, so the facts stay true. You can add your own name, interests, and family details and the AI weaves them in, which is what makes an endless supply of stories feel personal instead of generic.
Yes. Paste real Greek, English, or Greeklish text into Bring-Your-Own-Text and get it back as cleaned Modern Greek plus English, a glossary, and comprehension questions, leveled and tap-to-translate ready like any generated story.
They read about their own life, not a textbook family. Pick a topic they care about and the story is built around it, with their name and their yiayia's village woven in if you save those. On a Family plan each child reads at their own level from the same shared shelf, so a nine year old and a fourteen year old can read versions of the same story. What they liked can be printed into a book.
Most apps make you start at the beginning, and for someone who grew up hearing Greek that is the boring part you already know. Here you start at the level you actually read at, on subjects you chose. There is no streak to break and nothing is lost if you skip a week. Ten minutes of reading is the whole commitment.
Story generation at levels A0 (our starter tier for absolute beginners), A1 and A2, with audio narration, no credit card. For your first month you also get tap-to-translate and written answer checks, so you can use the paid tools before deciding anything. After that month those lapse and reading with audio stays free. It is enough to build a genuine daily reading habit before you ever pay anything.
