Reading at the right level, on purpose
Language researcher Stephen Krashen calls it comprehensible input: you acquire a language fastest from material you already understand about 90% of, so context teaches you the remaining 10%. Native content is usually too hard, and textbooks are too thin. Every Ellinica level is checked against measurable rules for sentence length, tense range, and vocabulary, not just an instruction to "write at level X." That's what makes A1 actually A1, and C1 actually C1.
We're upfront about how it works. Every story is generated by AI under a strict, level-specific brief rather than left to improvise, and you can see exactly what that brief is for your level in the reading level guides. For grounded topics like Greek mythology, Bible stories and classical philosophy, nothing gets invented: each retelling is anchored to one real, named source (Apollodorus for a myth, the Gospels for a Bible story, the philosopher's own text for a philosophy passage), so the names, events and ideas stay true and only the Greek gets simpler or harder to match you. My Greek is broken. It's village dialect and I mix in English.
That is the Greek this was built for. Ellinica never corrects how you or your family speak. Paste a message exactly as it was sent, Greeklish and all, and you get it back in Greek script with a translation and a glossary. Your dialect is not a mistake to be fixed. It is the reason you can already hear the language.
I don't know the Greek alphabet yet. Can I still use this?

How is this different from a gamified vocabulary app?
